Do I need to create an account to practice typing?

No, you don't need an account to practice! All our typing lessons and tutorials are completely free and available to everyone. You can start practicing immediately without any registration. However, creating a free account unlocks additional features like progress tracking, certificates, and the ability to join competitions.

How do I create an account?

Creating an account is simple and free. Click the "Sign Up" button in the top navigation, enter your email address, and verify it using the code we send. You'll then set a password and can start using all features immediately. We never share your information with third parties.

What's the difference between lessons and tutorials?

Lessons are free practice sessions organized by difficulty level (basic, medium, expert). They're perfect for building speed and accuracy. Tutorials are structured learning paths that teach specific skills, like touch typing fundamentals or advanced techniques. Both are free, but tutorials provide more guided instruction.

Can I use Etoskills on my phone or tablet?

While our website works on mobile devices, we strongly recommend using a desktop or laptop computer with a physical keyboard for the best experience. Typing on a touchscreen doesn't provide the same learning benefits and won't give you accurate speed measurements. For competitions and certificates, a physical keyboard is required.

Competitions

How do competitions work?

Competitions are timed typing tests where you compete against other participants. Each competition has a difficulty level (beginner, intermediate, or expert), an entry fee, and a prize pool. You register for a competition, complete the typing test during the competition window, and your results are ranked on a leaderboard. Top performers win cash prizes.

Do I have to pay to enter competitions?

Most competitions have an entry fee, which contributes to the prize pool. However, we occasionally host free competitions. You can always view the entry fee and prize pool before registering. Entry fees are clearly displayed on each competition page.

How are winners determined?

Winners are determined by a combination of speed (words per minute) and accuracy. Generally, higher accuracy is prioritized, so a participant with 95% accuracy and 60 WPM will rank higher than someone with 85% accuracy and 65 WPM. The exact ranking formula is displayed on each competition page.

When do I receive my prize money?

Prize money is automatically credited to your Etoskills wallet within 24-48 hours after a competition ends and results are finalized. You can then withdraw the funds to your bank account at any time through your dashboard. Withdrawals typically process within 3-5 business days.

Can I practice the competition text before competing?

Yes! We provide practice versions of competition content so you can familiarize yourself with the text before the competition starts. This ensures fair competition and helps you perform your best. Practice sessions are available in the competition details page.

Certificates & Badges

How do I earn a certificate?

Certificates are automatically issued when you complete a typing test with 90% or higher accuracy. The certificate level (Basic, Intermediate, or Expert) depends on your words per minute (WPM) score. Certificates include a unique verification code that employers can use to confirm your typing skills.

Can I share my certificates with employers?

Absolutely! Certificates are designed to be shared. You can download them as PDFs to include in job applications, or share a verification link that allows employers to confirm the certificate's authenticity online. Each certificate has a unique code for verification.

What are badges and how do I earn them?

Badges are achievements you earn for reaching specific milestones, such as maintaining a typing streak, achieving certain speed thresholds, or completing a number of lessons. Badges appear on your profile and can be shared to showcase your progress and dedication.

Do certificates expire?

No, certificates don't expire. However, we recommend keeping your skills sharp by practicing regularly. If you want to demonstrate current proficiency, you can always take a new test to earn an updated certificate with a recent date.

Payments & Wallet

How do I add money to my wallet?

You can top up your Etoskills wallet using credit cards, debit cards, or other payment methods we support. Go to your dashboard, click "Wallet & Payouts," and select "Top Up." Follow the secure payment process. Funds are added instantly to your wallet.

How do I withdraw prize money?

To withdraw funds, go to your dashboard and navigate to "Wallet & Payouts." Click "Withdraw" and enter the amount you want to withdraw along with your bank account details. Withdrawals typically process within 3-5 business days. There may be a small processing fee depending on your location.

Are there any fees?

Creating an account and practicing are completely free. Competition entry fees go directly into prize pools. We may charge a small processing fee for withdrawals, which is clearly displayed before you confirm. There are no hidden fees.

Is my payment information secure?

Yes, absolutely. We use industry-standard encryption and work with trusted payment processors (like Stripe) to handle all transactions. We never store your full credit card information on our servers. All payment data is processed securely through our payment partners.

Etoskills works best on modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We recommend using the latest version of your browser for the best experience. Some features may not work on older browsers.

My typing test results seem inaccurate. What should I do?

If you believe your results are incorrect, first check that you're using a physical keyboard (not a touchscreen) and that your internet connection is stable. Make sure you're not using any typing assistance tools. If issues persist, contact our support team with details about what happened.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

Click "Sign In" and then "Forgot Password?" Enter your email address, and we'll send you a link to reset your password. If you don't receive the email, check your spam folder or contact support.
